Drug Poisoning Awareness Day 2024

Posted On Thursday July 25, 2024

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is observed annually on August 31st and is internationally recognized as a day of remembrance for individuals that have died from overdose.

This year the Waterloo Region Integrated Drugs Strategy is hosting two Drug Poisoning Awareness events:

  • Kitchener – August 21st, 2024 – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Willow River Park (formerly Victoria Park)
  • Cambridge – August 27th, 2024 – 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Soper Park

Events will include: guest speakers, a moment of silence, the Sanguen Van, community partners with resources and supports including naloxone training. Pizza, pop, and water will also be available for free while supplies last.

Please join us as we gather as a community to honour the memory of those who have died from preventable overdose due to the drug poisoning and policy crisis.
